July at Playtime Wauchope – Play-Based Learning & NAIDOC Week
July at Playtime Wauchope was a month of heartfelt transitions, cultural celebration, and meaningful play-based learning. We bid a bittersweet farewell to our beloved educator Ash, who begins a new chapter as Team Leader at Playtime at Port. Her warmth, creativity, and joyful spirit have left a lasting impression, and we wish her all the best in her new role.
We also welcomed Samantha (Sam) to our team—a passionate and experienced early childhood educator who brings a strong focus on inclusivity and child protection. Sam will be working closely with our Beginners group, and we’re thrilled to have her join the Playtime family.
This month, we proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week, embracing the theme “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy.” Through storytelling, art, and community events, we honored the rich history and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Families were invited to share their traditions, and children engaged in activities that deepened their understanding and appreciation of First Nations heritage.
Our play-based learning approach continued to shine through hands-on experiences, creative expression, and community engagement. Highlights included a sustainable clothing swap led by our incredible Sustainability Leader, Tammie—who was also nominated for Employee of the Year in the Wauchope Business Awards!
From cultural art exhibitions to family fun days, July was filled with opportunities for children to explore, connect, and grow. At Playtime Wauchope, we believe in nurturing each child’s journey through meaningful experiences that celebrate identity, creativity, and community.
